Should You Redecorate Before Selling Your House in Dundee?

Whether You Should Redecorate Before Selling your House Depends on;

Your Goals For Your House Move

If you want the highest possible price, it may be worth redecorating (or at least freshening up with a lick of paint!)

If you need to sell fast, a good clear out and detail clean is usually enough to get you market ready!

Most often something in between to freshen up your home for buyers will get a great price without being on the market too long.

The Type & Condition of Your House

Older houses tend to need more maintenance whereas a newer house may need minimal touch ups.

Walk round your house with fresh eyes and notice any flaws that need fixing or older decor that needs refreshing.

And ask your Estate Agent at valuation. Make sure they know your overall goals so they can give advice that suits your situation.

Your Current Decor

If you have statement decor that you love, bear in mind it may be a bit ‘marmite’ – some will love it and some will hate it and it could put your ideal buyer off!

I’m always surprised how some viewers just can’t see past decor that’s not to their taste, even when the house is otherwirse perfect for them!

It could be worth a lick of paint and change of accessories to make your home more neutral.

Overall, in most scenarios, a good clearout, deep clean and freshen up of worn paintwork is usually enough.

But if you want top dollar, it’s worth thinking about updating accessories to ‘stage’ your house for photography and viewings as well as updating decor.

The investment will be worth it when you get that great offer, but don’t get carried away and spend more than you’ll make back on the sale price.
